
Alan joined Averta as a consultant in 2020. He is an extremely experienced employment solicitor, having worked in-house for a multi-national corporate, a top 50 law firm and a boutique employment law practice. His current client base is very varied – ranging from large corporates through SMEs to owner managed businesses and individuals across a range of business sectors.
Prior to taking up senior consultancy positions, Alan was legal director at Shakespeare Martineau advising multi-national, blue-chip companies, big brands, SMEs, and senior executives on all aspects of employment law.
In 2014, Alan was named Finance Monthly Labour and Employment Lawyer of the Year for United Kingdom of GB & NI.
Having worked with a wide range of businesses and other legal disciplines, including corporate, litigation and commercial teams, Alan is able to develop commercially focused strategic advice. He has advised many clients on exit strategy, change management, corporate transactions, directorship and shareholder disputes, breach of covenant and contractual disputes.
As he works very closely with clients, Alan is often regarded as one of the team and regularly invited to present to company boards on legal and regulatory issues, which demonstrates both the regard clients hold him in and his detailed grasp of client’s businesses and commercial objectives.
Alan’s also has a good track record of assisting senior employees in connection with complex disputes, achieving notable successes, which aligns him closely to Averta’s core business, from where he is able to call on the experience and expertise of numerous senior lawyers
In his spare time Alan has volunteered for Citizens Advice in South Warwickshire.
