David Beswick

David is an respected, senior lawyer who prior to joining Averta, David was a Partner and Head of Eversheds-Sutherland Employment Team in Birmingham and prior to that a Partner and Head of Hammonds Employment Team in Birmingham.

David acts for directors and senior executives in listed and private equity owned companies and his recent experience includes acting for a FTSE 100 company director, CEO of a drug development company, the CEO and major shareholder of a private equity owned company and a Partner of a law firm. David has also recently acted for a senior member of clergy.

David’s recent experience includes acting for employers involved a large-scale restructuring project for a listed international company as well as management restructuring schemes for UK listed and private companies. He has a detailed knowledge of TUPE in the context of both outsourcing and mergers and acquisitions. He also regularly advises employers on the enforceability of restrictive covenants.

David has long been acknowledged as a market leading employment lawyer who for over 20 years has been consistently ranked in the “star” and “Band 1” category in both Legal 500 legal directory and Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession.

Outside of Averta, David has recently volunteered as a case worker for a Birmingham based employment law charity advising workers from vulnerable communities and has been a director of his village sports club. David continues to play badminton in local leagues and tennis on a very social basis, as well as occasionally visiting a gym! He also does his best to keep his garden tamed, although admits that this is sometimes without success!
